The Double Bind Meetup

Virtual Agile Meetup with Rachel Weston Rowell and Michigan Technology Services

Michigan Technology Services offers instructor-led Agile and Scrum training and coaching. We collaborate with stellar people –like Rachel Weston Rowell, a globally recognized Agile trainer and coach. Our training takes place at our location in the Farmington Hills/Novi area, 20 miles outside of Detroit, or at your location anywhere around the world. Our Agile workshops and Agile coaching sessions can also be offered virtually, reducing your need to travel.

While many trainers fly into metro Detroit to deliver Scrum and Agile classes at a hotel, and then leave, we live here and support the local Agile community. We continue to sponsor regional Agile conferences and meetups. We have successfully run Agile and Certified ScrumMaster, Product Owner and Agile Leadership courses for multiple teams from globally recognized organizations. We also provide Agile coaching for great companies, helping them with their Agile journey.

We are planning a series of free virtual meetups for our Agile friends.

Meetup with Rachel Weston Rowell – July 23, 2020

The Double Bind – An Agile Leadership Discussion for Women

Join Rachel Weston Rowell for this virtual meetup. In this session we will explore the “double-bind” of women in leadership. Stereotypes of female gender roles expect women to be nice and kind and compassionate while stereotypes of leader roles expect people to take charge and be tough and assertive. This is the double-bind – be nice and potentially perceived as a weak leader, or be a competent leader who is unlikeable and potentially dangerous.

Rachel is an engaging leader who champions the development and growth of people and organizations by shining a light on opportunities in ways that motivate and inspire. Her passion lies in helping organizations transform so that they can not only survive but so that they can shine in their market. She coaches executives and leaders on developing their organizational capabilities so they can learn, respond, and change.

She is not only a Certified Scrum Trainer but also an expert facilitator who loves creating spaces where people can work together and drive to action. She believes that meetings do not have to suck.

As a regular performer in an improv comedy group, she has learned how to say “Yes, and” to any situation. Rachel’s positivity makes the challenge of a business transformation an enjoyable—and empowering—experience.

We will end with Rachel answering some of your questions. We expect some great conversations.
